Can I rely on God to meet my needs ?

A very memorable demonstration of God’s provision took place for my oldest daughter while in High School band. Patty informed me of black shoes  required for an upcoming  band concert as part of uniform attire. It seemed to be a bit of a challenge for her father and I as we were faced with a tight budget. We did manage to set aside funds for this need, however were not able to find the shoes in her size and the concert was very near. I of course prayed about this, but still no shoes. The day of the concert was at hand. Patty asked me,

“Mother what am I to do, I have to have those shoes or it will affect my grade?” I still had to trust God and know that she was taken care of. I told her as she was ready to leave,

“Your peace is not dependent on a pair of shoes, and your purpose for this concert is to express God’s harmony with your music. We will just hold on to this truth. That evening as she returned, the minute she opened the front door she said;

“Mom you’ll never believe what happened!” Apparently, in between performances, another band member – who had previously performed – noticed she didn’t have the right shoes. He said,

“what size do you wear?” she replied 10. He said;

“Here, wear mine we wear the same size.” She was able to perform in complete uniform. God always knows what we have need of before we ask. This makes me think of the line from a  hymn in our Christian Science hymnal pg. 350.  “All is well.”

Can we rely on God to meet our needs?

Hymn 350 Christian Science Hymnal – Mary Peters

Through the love of God our Savior
All will be well;
Free and changeless is His favor;
All must be well,
Precious is the Love that healed us,
Perfect is the grace that sealed us,
Strong the hand stretched forth to shield us:
All, all is well.

Though we pass through tribulation
All will be well;
Ours is such a full salvation,
All must be well;
Happy still, in God confiding,
Fruitful, when in Christ abiding,
Holy, through the spirits’s guiding;
All, all is well.

We expect a bright tomorrow,
All will be well;
Faith can sing through days of sorrow,
All must be well;
While His truth we are applying,
And upon His love relying,
God is every need supplying,
All, all is well.
